The freedesktop.org standard provides for a x11.pc that is installed as part of the autotoolized Xlibs package, and many newer fd.o applications depend on that pkgconfig file existing. Even though we use the Xorg monolithic tree, there is little incremental cost in providing a x11.pc clone that can be marked up directly in the ebuild. See here for the x11.pc.in from fd.o CVS: http://cvs.freedesktop.org/xlibs/X11/x11.pc.in?rev=1.5&view=markup Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
These will all be provided in the 7.0 release and RC's for it. If you have an urgent need, you can try out my initial ebuilds at http://dev.gentoo.org/~spyderous/x-modular/ -- all the distfiles are up there too, and the packages now install to /opt/fdo/. We're not really interested in diverging from upstream to the extent of providing a long list of pkg-config files and hacking around with them in the ebuild (or even one -- it's been done before, and it is a huge hack). But if you'd like to file an upstream bug at bugs.freedesktop.org, we'll be happy to add patches as soon as it hits Xorg CVS. If you do file an upstream bug, please post the URL here. Such a bug would likely request that the monolithic Xorg tree provide pkg-config files to be consistent with the modular tree.
Modular's in the tree now, so this functionality exists.
Marking as fixed.
