After rebooting the network card (eth0) does not show when I run ifconfig, but
it is shown in the log file from the boot process.  The card is a RealTek and
uses the 3189too module.

no real info here

if you dont bring up the nic then it wont show up in `ifconfig` ... you have to
run `ifconfig -a` to view all interfaces
