In baselayout 1.11.13 the iwconfig script in /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/iwconfig searches for iwconfig in /sbin, but as at least of wireless-tools-28_pre8 iwconfig is installed in /usr/sbin. Therefore any attempt to use the module 'iwconfig' fails with an error message "wireless-tools not installed" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add the iwconfig module via the /etc/conf.d/net script to a network device 2. Start the network device Actual Results: Starting fails with an error message Expected Results: the iwconfig module needs to check /usr/sbin instead of /sbin Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.12-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r4 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Mobile CPU 1.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.2.3-r5, 2.3.5, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.10 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS=" -O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS=" -O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks fixpackages sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo" LANG="de_DE.utf8" LC_ALL="de_DE.utf8" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aalib acpi alsa apm arts artswrappersuid artworkextra avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bzlib cairo cdparanoia cdr codecs crypt cups curl dga divx4linux dts dv dvd edl eds emboss encode esd evo exif faac faad fam ffmpeg flac font-server foomaticdb fortran freetype gd gdbm gif gimpprint gnokii gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal howl imagemagick imap imlib ipv6 irmc java jikes jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal kdepim ldap libg++ libwww lzo mad mikmod mmx mmx2 motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses network nls nntp nptl nptlonly offensive ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pcmcia pda pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime readline real rtc samba sasl scanner sdl slang slp smime speedo speex spell sse sse2 ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1 type1-fonts unicode usb vidix vorbis wifi win32codecs wmf xfs xine xml xml2 xmms xosd xrandr xv xvid xvmc zeroconf zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
No, the path is correct - see Bug 96654.
The path problem is fixed in wireless-tools-28_pre8-r1 so i think i can close this bug
This is still a Problem for the stable branch. Could this fix be backported to wireless-tools-27?
Stable baselayout requires Stable wireless-tools Unstable baselayout requires Unstable wireless-tools Both need to be marked stable at the same time (duh!) which is probably going to be Monday
