when accessing mldonkey via the web interface, no configuration changes can be saved, like not even the client_name. I found /home/p2p/.mldonkey/downloads.ini holding these config options, but if I change settings there manually, they get overwridden on /etc/init.d/mldonkey start. there's also an /etc/conf.d/downloads.ini, which is empty, and doesn't seem to effect the process. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge mldonkey 2. /etc/init.d/mldonkey start 3. access it through http://localhost:4080/ 4. try to change and save configuration settings. Actual Results: changing settings doesn't have any effect Expected Results: changes should be saved normally using mldonkey version 2.5.16-r9 emerge info: Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.5-20050130, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 i686 Pentium II (Deschutes) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, Jul 7 2005, 19:06:37)] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: [Not Present] sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium2 -mmmx -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium2 -mmmx -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.math.bme.hu http://gentoo.mirror.icd.hu/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aac aalib alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr cjk crypt cups curl divx4linux doc dvd dvdr eds emboss encode esd fam ffmpeg foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imlib ipv6 jpeg libcaca libg++ libwww lirc mad mikmod mmx motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mplayer ncurses network nls nptl ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png pnp python qt quicktime readline sdl spell ssl tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb v4l v4l2 vorbis win32codecs xinerama xml xml2 xmms xprint xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
check file permissions. I saw something similar to this, months ago. Mldonkey's direcotory didn't contain valid rights for p2p user. Cheers, Przemek
You should edit the configuration files only when mldonkey is shut down. If you edit them with mldonkey running, it will rewrite the defaults when stopped.
Right, you can edit mldonkey config files only when mldonkey's shutdown otherwise you should edit it in mldonkey interface.
if you read my bug report thoroughly, especially the steps to reproduce: Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge mldonkey 2. /etc/init.d/mldonkey start 3. access it through http://localhost:4080/ 4. try to change and save configuration settings. you will immediately see that I did just what you say: tried to edit the config setting through the HTML UI of mldonkey. and they just won't save.

Sorry, it's not fixed.
Did you press ENTER after changing a setting in HTML interface?
of course I did :)
is that problem still present in newest mldonkey version?
no feedback from user. closing
