Description pinihadad 2005-07-10 19:57:19 UTC
The installation puts the file kmymoney2.desktop in
/usr/share/applnk/Applications/ which is fine, but doesn't do whatever else is
necessary to make it go somewhere specific in the kmenu, so it winds up in Lost
& Found. I'm not sure if the same is true for other DEs.

Reproducible: Always

Which version? If it is with 0.6.x, can you try with 0.7.3?

Must have been too tired when I posted the bug last night. It was with 0.6.x. I
tried again with 0.7.3 and I'm pretty sure the problem is still there. Here are
the details:
I upgraded to 0.7.3. Checked my main account's kmenu. There was a shortcut to it
under Office but I'm pretty sure I put that one there. Then I checked another
account that I hardly use. I'm almost positive it was in the Lost & Found in
that kmenu. Then I decided maybe some funky stuff happened with the upgrade so I
quickpkged it and unmerged it. It was gone from both accounts' kmenus. Then I
reemergered it with -K. I got this message:
...
/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh: line 1686:
/var/db/pkg/app-office/kmymoney2-0.7.3/kmymoney2-0.7.3.ebuild: No such file or
directory

!!! ERROR: app-office/kmymoney2-0.7.3 failed.
!!! Function , Line 1686, Exitcode 1
!!! error sourcing ebuild
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

>>> extracting kmymoney2-0.7.3
...
And then it seemed to install ok. After that it was back in the Office section
of my main account's kmenu, which I assume is because there was some other file
left around after I unmerged it, and it was nowhere in my 2nd account's kmenu.
Thanks for your time.

If you look into in /usr/share/applications/kde/kmymoney2.desktop, it
correctly has "Categories=Office;Finance", and I'm pretty sure that it goes
automatically in the Office menu.

Seems like you're right. I made a new account and it was in the office menu. Any
idea why I wouldn't work for 1 of my accounts?
Comment 5 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-12 07:17:10 UTC
I would look into for a copy of kmymoney2.desktop somewhere in ~/.kde or
~/.config, I have no other idea...
