under code listing 4.4, mouse device shown should be '/dev/input/mice' not mouse0
Right above code listing 4.3 there is the following paragraph: If your mouse isn't working, you will first need to find out if it is detected by the kernel at all. Mice are (device-wise) seen as /dev/input/mouse0 (or /dev/input/mice if you want to use several mice). In some cases /dev/psaux is used. In either case you can check if the devices do represent your mouse by checking the output of those files when you move your mouse. To end the session press Ctrl-C.
point taken. still, the more generic/trouble-free (usually) 'mice' would be appropriate, as people do tend to copy&paste, and gravitate toward the code listings for guidance as they tend to get you through quicker.
As steev said, it is mentioned in the guide in the paragraph right above it. Any copy/paste behaviour should actually be discouraged as it leads to problems anyway. The guide isn't wrong nor will the change clarify things. I'm marking this as WONTFIX, otherwise the translation teams would kill me for changing stuff that isn't broken :)
