Description Lorenzo Simionato 2005-07-10 02:30:44 UTC
The syslog has hundreds of messages like:

hub 2-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
hub 2-0:1.0: over-current change on port 3
hub 2-0:1.0: over-current change on port 4

No matter if i connect usb devices or not.
Also normally i have 1 message every 30 seconds but for example if i emerge
something i have like 3-6 messages per second.

kernel: 2.6.12-gentoo-r4
But i had the same problem when installing gentoo from the livecd 2005.0

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Nothing, for example emerge something to increase the effect and
tail -f /var/log/messages

Actual Results:
the syslog has lots of over-current change....

Expected Results:
Write nothing

Does not seem like a Gentoo-specific problem:

Please try and reproduce on 2.6.13-rc2
Please attach /proc/bus/usb/devices

I've had the same results with kernel 2.6.13-rc2 (downloaded directly from
kernel.org).

Looks like an upstream bug then. Please file a bug report at
http://bugzilla.kernel.org and post the new bug URL here.
Comment 6 Lorenzo Simionato 2005-07-19 00:17:25 UTC
I don't know why or what i've done, but now it's all ok, no strange messages...
