Have emerged rt2500 under gentoo-sources 2.6.11-rxx and 2.6.12-r4 and have encountered no problems so far - so it would seem to me that there's no need for a mask of this package. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
It's not masked, it's marked unstable. And please post some meaningful summary next time, especially put the ebuild name and version there.
emerged net/wireless/rt2500 1.1.0_beta2-r2 on my amd64 box and it seems to work fine, haven't encountered any problems so far. Emerged under gentoo-sources 2.6.11-rxx and had to re-emerge after upgrading to gentoo-sources 2.6.12-r4.

See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/kernel-upgrade.xml#doc_chap6 Alternatively, you can try sys-kernel/module-rebuild.
I just solved the two bugs filed on it, I could mark it stable. But I dont really feel good with marking a beta release stable :( What do you think? And I am almost sure that there are additional bugs for this release, that are not reportet in gentoo bugzilla.
This is in the summary anyway but forgot to add that this is with a Linksys WMP54g v4. The lspci output is as follows: 0000:00:0c.0 Network controller: RaLink Ralink RT2500 802.11 Cardbus Reference Card (rev 01)
There is a beta3 available now, do you know if it is more stable?
Maybe LATER, but as upstream decides to name it beta and I don't even have a single device of this available for testing I tend to say no, sorry.
