Next time, try to at least put the title of the application in the Summary... we
don't need commentary in the Summary, but instead useful information... thanks...

Anyway, do you have the Loki version of the game? Not a Windows version, right?
Comment 2 Florian Manschwetus 2005-07-08 12:54:21 UTC
ok thx
sorry I havent realized that is was the title.
The CD contains a setup.sh in rootdirectory so i think it should be the
Linux-Version
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-08 13:09:51 UTC
Try running an emerge sync and then trying again. I want to make sure that you
are using the latest version of the ebuild.
Comment 4 Florian Manschwetus 2005-07-08 13:35:16 UTC
same result
Comment 5 Geoff Sadler 2005-10-30 20:34:01 UTC
I am able to install the cd using setup.sh. When using the ebuild to install
via emerge tribes2 after installing the loki_setupdb, Loki-compat, loki_update,
I get the following error:

!!! ERROR: games-fps/tribes2-25034 failed.
!!! Function src_install, Line 55, Exitcode 3
!!! patching
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Now if I manually run the update I get the following:

Verifying archive integrity...tail: `+6' option is obsolete; use `-n 6' since
this will be removed in the future
OK
tail: `+6' option is obsolete; use `-n 6' since this will be removed in the future

Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-31 07:50:23 UTC
Are you getting that error on amd64 or x86?
Comment 7 Dirk Hörner 2005-11-14 06:55:26 UTC
The ebuild is working fine for me.

I'm almost sure you are using a corrupt cd or iso for installation. Check your
*.vl2 files inside the base/ directory for the following checksums:

I only end up with loki_patch errors on amd64... on x86, it works perfectly for
me. I think your media might be scratched or something. Anyway, since I've
gotten no response from the OP, I'm closing this one out until he comes back
from being AWOL.
Comment 9 Charlie Gehlin 2005-11-23 04:41:48 UTC
Confirming bug. I'm on amd64 :/
You might consider opening this bug again?

# uname -a
Linux Asterix 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 #2 PREEMPT Mon Nov 21 19:57:16 CET 2005 x86_64
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

However if I'm putting the tribes2-25034-r1.ebuild (from bug # 53924 )in my
portage overlay, it patches and emerges OK but then t2launch throws me complaints:

# /usr/games/bin/t2launch
t2launch: dynamic-link.h:57: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic
tag"' failed.
Aborted

But that just may be yet another bugreport ;)

Let me know if I can be of any more help.
Thanks!
/Charlie

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/games/#doc_chap5_sect11

It doesn't work on amd64, which is *exactly* why it does not have amd64 KEYWORDS.
Comment 11 Charlie Gehlin 2005-11-24 07:03:59 UTC
If you mean by "It doesn't work" that you don't support it, you might be just
rigt, But it DOES work with the ebuild mentioned above:

$ uname -a
Linux Asterix 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 #2 PREEMPT Mon Nov 21 19:57:16 CET 2005 x86_64
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

$ t2launch
*Playing*

Thanks!

Comment 12 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-24 08:38:42 UTC
We do not support *anything* that isn't in the tree. What is in the tree DOES
NOT WORK. Anything outside the tree is 100% non-relevant to this discussion/bug.
Comment 13 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-24 09:39:25 UTC
...that being said... I'm looking into adding a static binary version of
loki_patch into the tree...
Comment 14 Charlie Gehlin 2006-01-06 16:19:30 UTC
htf can things outside the tree be irrelevant if it contains solutions to your problems? Chill, I'm only trying to help out here , but now I'm gettin' pretty tired of you gentoo-dev-divas...
