I just upgraded from splashutils-0.9.1 to 1.1.9.6-r1. With the new version, during bootup, while the fbsplash is in silent mode and displaying a progress bar in the Lila theme, every init script outputs at least one line of the above error. None of them cancel the silent mode though. As soon as you switch to verbose mode the error messages stop being output. Line 66 involves updating the progress bar, so it makes sense that the errors are only while in silent mode.
