sonata david # emerge -vp =media-sound/amarok-1.3_beta2

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "=media-sound/amarok-1.3_beta2" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-sound/amarok-1.3_beta2 (masked by: package.mask, ~x86 keyword)
# Diego Pettenò <flameeyes@gentoo.org> (27 Jun 2005)
# Mask all 1.3_beta versions.

There are no serious bugs for the 1.3 betas and this mask comment tells me nothing.
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-08 02:00:03 UTC
I've improved the message.

amarok beta versions are known to have problems usually, and their bugs are
addressed directly upstream.
Having an unmasked amarok beta in portage would require us to manage the
eventual bugs which can be already fixed upstream for stable version, probably
resolving most of them with RESOLVED UPSTREAM.

I've changed the masking message, but amarok-1.3_beta* will remain masked,
until 1.3 final is out.
