Description SAngeli 2005-07-07 03:31:31 UTC
Hi,
I have installed OpenOffice 1.1.4
I then emerge ooodi and completed succesfully. The version is ebuild R ]
app-office/ooodi-0.68 +nls 0 kB
Once finished installing it, I do not see any Icon in the Menu (perhaps Office
section)
So, I try to run ooodi from Run Command... It loads the first windows
(Configuration) and only have an OK button to continue. I can click it forever
but nothing happens. So, I have to kill it.
If instead I run ooodi from konsole as regular user, I get the same windows, but
with the following errors in the konsole:
(ooodi:26221): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler
'on_help_activate'.

(ooodi:26221): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler

Rather, if I run ooodi from konsole as root user, I get the same above errors
but with a different windows, asking where to install.

What is wrong?

thank you,
Spiro

This is definitely NOT a bugzilla bug. Please, read the instructions carefully
when filling bugs.
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-07 03:50:12 UTC
Try 0.55, all later versions are broken. Also, this ebuild is not really useful
any more, might be worth removing from the tree.

Although it should work (it did the last time I checked), the correct advice
here is: Use the built-in Dictionary-installer of OpenOffice.org. (or is there
any specific reason you don't want to do this?)
Comment 4 SAngeli 2005-07-22 13:33:22 UTC
Hi,

could you please explain where is this: Use the built-in Dictionary-installer of
OpenOffice.org. ?

Please tell me exactely where to find it in OOo.

I am also aware that I can install different dictionary for different languages
manually and I believe this is the most stable and preferred way to avoid OOOdi.

Thank you,
Spiro

File > Wizards > Install new Dictionaries
Comment 6 SAngeli 2005-07-24 00:54:12 UTC
Hi,
where did you get File > Wizards > Install new Dictionaries?
I do not have in withing File, the selection Wizard.

I currently run OOo 1.1.4 Sun Microsystems Inc, installed by Gentoo Portage.

Comment 7 Marco Nierlich 2005-08-27 08:04:36 UTC
IMO, the problem with this bug report is that it misses the first line that i
get in console when launching ooodi:

(OOodi:19512): libglade-WARNING **: Could not load support for `gnome':
libgnome.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have NO gnome environment end therefore no libgnome.so
As a consequence, you get lines like

(OOodi:19512): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler
'on_propOK_clicked'.

So the described click on OK (signal) does not get caught.
Comment 8 Sylvain Lamontagne 2005-10-07 14:34:53 UTC
You encounter the same problem with tilp (the ti-calculator linker).
The emerge go well, but the apps is unusable for the same reason: Multiple
libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler
Comment 9 Benedikt 2005-10-19 10:26:33 UTC
Spiro,
you can find the built in dictionary installer under file > AutoPilot > Install
Additional Dictionaries..
I had exactly the same bug with OOodi. Why isn't masked if every version after
0.55 is broken?
Comment 10 SAngeli 2005-10-19 11:28:49 UTC
Hi Benedikt,

I have actually switched to OpenOffice 2.0 beta.

Thank you thou for your kind suggestion.

Take care,
Spiro

I would also opt for removing this package from portage, it seems to be
unmaintained and serves no sole purpose. Also I don't think it will work with
OOo 2.0.

@pauldv: If you agree, I'm going ahead and remove it
Comment 12 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-26 13:07:36 UTC
@Andreas

I agree, it's kind of pointless to keep it. It's kindof broken, and will break
even more in the future.
Comment 13 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-27 05:41:50 UTC
I've put it in package.mask now, going to remove it from the tree in the next
few days.
