Description Ron Waldon 2005-07-06 15:48:25 UTC
I have emerged ipw2200 1.0.4 several times with gentoo-sources 2.6.11-r11 (from
portage) and vanilla-sources 2.6.12.2 (not using portage). This is a regular
2005.0 system (not a LiveCD or anything like that), running on a Centrino laptop
(with 2200BG miniPCI). My networks consist of a Netgear DG834G (AP modem) and a
DG834GT (AP modem), both running WPA-PSK TKIP security. I had to emerge
ipw2200-firmware 2.3 which is also in testing at the moment.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge/download kernel
2. configure, build and install kernel
3. reboot
4. emerge ipw2200 (only the modules is required, the firmware from previous
emerge is fine)
5. modprobe {ipw2200 ieee80211_crypt_tkip}
6. /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start (my wpa_supplicant.conf is still good)
7. start using successfully brought up network interface

Actual Results:
The module was properly installed, loaded, and used with the net script and
wpa_supplicant to connect to a WPA-PSK TKIP secured wireless network.

ipw2200 1.0.4 should be marked stable (if my small successes are enough).

This driver is not stable for all people. We have had lots of bug reports
upstream about this version.
