Description Jannick Kuhr 2005-07-03 08:24:35 UTC
media-sound/kid3-0.5 is not able to edit files containing umlauts and other special caracters. Please add this patch, submitted by Peter Korf on kid3's sourceforge page, to fix this issue.

For me this patch apllies cleanly and fixes the problem.

Patch to fix this issue
Comment 2 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-03 15:39:27 UTC
Hm, no cvs changes for eleven months now. I'm more inclined to say this project
seems to be dead upstream, let's remove it from the tree; At least if there's
nothing happening for another weeks.

Why don't you use e.g. Juk for tagging, Jannick?

sound herd, your opinion?
Comment 3 Jannick Kuhr 2005-07-03 23:42:47 UTC
Hmm, I have to disagree Carsten.

It's probably true that this project is dead, but kid3 is the only isolated
id3tagger for kde3 and I don't want to install a whole mediaplayer just to edit
some tags. Kid3 works very well, is easy to use and the only annoying bug is
this "special caracter" issue, which can be solved by this simple patch. So I
don't really understand, why we should remove it.

I would be happy if we could leave kid3 in the tree for the moment and just
apply the proposed patch. When kde4 will be released and nothing happens, we
could think about removing it.
Comment 4 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-16 07:23:04 UTC
There's kid3-0.6 in portage now, closing.
