Description Francesco Lamonica 2005-07-02 10:58:59 UTC
I used to have a kpanel (with knewsticker running in it) below the kicker bar.
Now with kde 3.4.1 the lowest part of the screen is grabbed by kicker and the
kpanel can be put just above it. It used to happen this way till kde 3.2.x where
this limitation was solved.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.try to add a panel below the kicker bar
2.
3.

I'd normally mark this UPSTREAM and tell you to file a feature request at
bugs.kde.org. But IMO this in fact deserves to be closed as INVALID. (If you
disagree you can still file at bugs.kde.org).

My reasoning: the extra panel you add is as much part of kicker as the first
one. It's true that in kde 3.4.1, if you add a second panel, the first
one is called 'Main Panel' and is always at the bottom of the screen. But
AFAICS it has no special features other than that. So you can move the taskbar
etc to the second child panel, and voila, you have an empty panel at the bottom
of the screen. It shouldn't matter to you whether that's the Main Panel or not.

Hi Dan, i see your point but i'll still fill a report on bugs.kde.org. While i
do agree that you can move the various buttons/menu from a panel to the other
(no one having special abilities) i think u lack flexibility this way, because
whenever you want to add something in a different position you might end
re-arranging all the applets from a panel to another... instead of simply
dragging the new panel wherever u prefer. :-)
thanks anyway
