Description Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-30 15:29:43 UTC
I have a non-multilib system. xorg-x11 installs in /usr/lib64 which makes pkgconfig not work, etc.

$ epm -q xorg-x11
xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2

$ epm -ql xorg-x11 | grep lib64 | head
/usr/lib64/X11/fs
/usr/lib64/X11/etc/xmodmap.std
/usr/lib64/X11/etc/Xinstall.sh
/usr/lib64/X11/etc/sun.termcap
/usr/lib64/X11/etc/sun.terminfo
/usr/lib64/X11/twm
/usr/lib64/X11/xdm
/usr/lib64/X11/xkb/README.config
/usr/lib64/X11/xkb/xkbcomp
/usr/lib64/X11/xkb/geometry.dir

$ pkg-config --list-all | grep xft
(blank)

$ epm -ql xorg-x11 | grep xft.pc
/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/xft.pc

$ emerge --info

just because you have a non-multilib system, that doesn't mean xorg shouldn't
install to /usr/lib64. You're building 64bit objects, so they should go to
/usr/lib64. It's the expected behaviour.

Concerning the pkg-config issue: Currently it's enough to re-merge pkg-config,
because newer versions behave like this:

       PKG_CONFIG_PATH
              A  colon-separated  (on  Windows,  semicolon-separated)  list of
              directories to search for .pc files. The default directory will
              always be searched after searching the path; the default is lib-
              dir/pkgconfig where libdir is the libdir where pkg-config was
              installed.
