After running alsaconf, which detected my sound card properly, it fails when it's "Restoring Mixer Settings". It also fails on boot (rc-update add alsautils default). It fails in both scenarios: When the drivers are compiled in the kernel itself (as modules) and using external alsa-drivers. Followed the instructions in Gentoo's ALSA Guide (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml). It outputs the following error: Running modules-update... Loading driver... * Loading ALSA modules ... * Loading: snd-card-0 ... Remove /etc/asound.state, restart and save, it's probably caused by a change in the driver's peripherals' names.
