Description Steph L 2005-06-30 10:51:47 UTC
there is definitely an issue for French ibook users.
It was in the past reported as
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6593

To get a keyboard mapping supporting accents and the euro sign, we, French
ibook users have to install some extra software :
ftp://ftp.linux-france.org/pub/macintosh/kbd-mac-fr-4.1.tar.gz listed in
http://www.linux-france.org/macintosh/clavier_v4.html

Ubuntu/Debian also faces such issue hence a bug created too :
https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5989

It would be great to integrate the keymaps of the tarball in the kbd and Xorg
ebuild to help French users having a working environment out of the box.

Don't hesitate to contact me for additional information or testing

Freedesktop.org bug:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2870

Added x11 to CC, is this something we can add until it gets added upstream?
Comment 2 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-30 12:33:13 UTC
We're happy to add a patch as soon as it hits upstream CVS. No need to wait for
an upstream release, but we do want to benefit from the review and support of
upstream developers.

Okay, closing as upstream, Steph, can you let us know when it hits upstream CVS
and then reopen the bug? Thanks!
