Netprofiler saves the settings of network devices into files with appropriate names for each device in a folder whose name is specified by the user. These are called netprofiles. It is then easy to change the network settings to those saved in the profiles. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: emerge netprofiler Actual Results: no ebuild avaliable Expected Results: To have an ebuild in default gentoo tree would be great. Created attachment 62077 [details] an ebuild for netprofiler
I can maintain the ebuild myself. I wrote both the program and the ebuild so it's not a problem.
If there are no problems with this ebuild then could it please be folded into the tree?
Re comment #2: In order to be able to maintain a package, you have to be a Gentoo developer. Re comment #3: New ebuilds are only included in the tree once they have a developer to maintain them. That way we try to guarantee that ebuilds receive enough attention once they are in portage. Otherwise there would be a great number of ebuilds in the tree just sitting at a certain version, not having their bugs fixed. We have a developer shortage as it is and we're all working on Gentoo in our own time, so we must take care not to bite off more than we can chew.
Created attachment 64441 [details] An ebuild for netprofiler version 0.9.9 This is an updated ebuild.
Created attachment 67459 [details] netprofiler ebuild for version 1.0 There is now also a homepage at http://www.simnet.is/~gnarlin/netprofiler.html
Created attachment 76200 [details] netprofiler ebuild for version 1.0.2 Pretty please with sugar on top, could someone please take a look at the ebuild and perhaps help get it into portage. I would be grateful.
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
