If you emerge Mail-SpamAssassin-2.31-r3.ebuild first, then the 2.43 will emerge without any trouble.
-r1 is in portage. Added more lines to myconf so that it would build in the sandbox and then install correctly (see the top of the Makefile.PL for notes)
Thomas, is this working for you now that the corrected version is in portage?
Can this be closed?
I would only be able to test this by installing on a virgin 1.4 system, which I don't have. As far as I am concerned, this can be closed, as it appears correct.
