Description MIchael Spooren 2005-06-27 08:43:15 UTC
When I start
ebuild /var/lib/db/pkg/dev-db/postgresql-8.0.1-r4/postgresql-8.0.1-r4 config

all seems ok expect:
Loading pg_description... FATAL Invali memorry alloc request size 4294967292
and
exit code 1
initdb removing contents of data directory "/Var/lib/postgresql/data"

I am running Gentoo on HP9000 (7300cl)
Any ideas?

no idea about hppa..

I'm ccing hansmi@gentoo.org who marks hppa on postgresql ebuild.
(if hppa herd is better, please reassign)
Comment 2 Guy Martin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-21 06:51:12 UTC
This was because that version of SQL doesn't have the TEST_AND_SET definition for hppa thus it uses IPC.

In your case you are running out of shared memory.
This can be tweaked in some /proc variables.

If it's not already done, please upgrade to the current stable.
