It seems that all metadata.xml files one level below PORTDIR have been gone through utf-8 conversion once too many times. The files that have part <longdescription lang="de">...</longdescription> contain text that has been run through iso-8859-15 => utf-8 translation twice. Only the German translations and those that are before them are wrong. All others are correct.

For example the text in net-wireless/metadata.xml should be:
Die Kategorie net-wireless enth

                Die Kategorie app-accessibility enthält Programme für barrierefreies
                Arbeiten (Accessibility), wie beispielsweise Screenreader.
        </longdescription>

Not sure if this is a QA thingy or who is responsible for the translations, but
definitely not a portage thing.

Yeah, this is a thing for me. Long story to do with broken editors... I'll fix
the whole lot and see how long it is before they get broken again...
