the current version of kcheckgmail is 0.5.3a and the current unmaked one in
portage is 0.5.1.  I've been using 0.5.3a without issue for months, and I
couldn't find any outstanding bugs in the bugzilla holding it back.  Also, if i
recall correctly 0.5.1 isn't even functional with the current gmail protocol (so
it doesn't even work :()

Current version is 0.5.4 and it is the only one that works.

0.5.4 is now stable.
