media-gfx/splash-themes-livecd contains the theme you want (2005.0).
What you're saying is true, but a gensplash theme is just a gensplash theme -- it doesn't necessarily reflect the version of your Gentoo system. The 'emergence' theme which I guess you're using, was made in the days of 2004.0. If you want something newer, feel free to try splash-themes-livecd-2005.0 :)
