Does this still happen even when you build uim with CFLAGS="-O -pipe"?

Yes it does.

I tried building it as follows:
CFLAGS="-O -pipe" emerge -v uim

I got the same segmentation fault.

(I don't have any amd64 box around)

it does not happen on my amd64.

if you have same problem with uim-0.5.0.1, please reopen this bug.
