It would have been easier if the build system wasn't changed to qmake, which 
doesn't even support specifying the location of Qt and KDE libs... 
anyone interested is encouraged to submit ebuilds to cope with this change.

The actual build system of konverter is not useable.
Alternative solutions are kmenc, and from version 2.4 even avidemux
(2.4 version will have also a Qt4 gui)
