It would be cool if texmacs would auto-register it's icon. As of version 1.0.5, the texmacs package has been comming with the texmacs icon in /usr/share/TeXmacs/misc/pixmaps/TeXmacs.xpm, and has a texmacs.desktop file, which oddly points the "Icon" field to one of the web page graphics. However, loading a filemanager, like for example: nautlius, causes no icon to be displayed for texmacs, either the TeXmacs.xpm "Sigma chip", or the web page graphic. I was unsure how to catagorize this, as I believe KDE and GNOME are now unified with one registration process, so i put it in "Applications". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.load texmacs 2.create a ".tm" file and save it 3.load nautilus Actual Results: saw nautilus display the "plain text file" icon for texmacs .tm files. Expected Results: displayed a texmacs specific icon like /usr/share/TeXmacs/misc/pixmaps/TeXmacs.xpm In theory, A user is supposed to be able to work around this by installing his own handler in ~/.local and ~/.icon, but after a fairly large search, i have not found any documentation or successfull reports of people doing this type of thing. bash-2.05b# emerge info Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.5-20050130, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) MP 2800+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, May 13 2005, 17:34:40)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: [Not Present] sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r7 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.16 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac alsa apm arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cairo cdr crypt cups curl doc dvd dvdr dvdread ecc eds emacs emboss encode esd fam ffmpeg flac font-server foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gnome gnomedb gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal idea imlib ipv6 jabber jpeg libclamav libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mng motif mozdevelop mozilla mozsvg mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nvidia oav odbc offensive ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl pg-hier pg-intdatetime png postgres python quicktime readline real rrdtool samba sdl slang speex spell ssl svg svga tcpd tetex theora tiff toolbar truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb vidix vorbis win32codecs winbind xine xml2 xmms xprint xv zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY bash-2.05b#
I have changed the path in the desktop file to the one you suggested in version 1.0.6. Try use that version and report back if you still have a problem with nautlius not showing the icon.
No response in more than a month. I assume that this is fixed, since it now works for me. If it is not, then feel free to reopen the bug.
