kmidi won't start without an usr/kde/3/share/apps/kmidi/config/timidity.cfg which is not installed. Regards, Alexander
kde version is 3.0.4
It is installed in kde 3.1 btw. Someone who's up to handling kde 3.0.x issues, please check this out or who knows when I'll get there...
kdemultimedia-3.0.4 installs it here. It's in the kde cvs too (i.e. not generated at install time) so should always be installed, otherwise it's a bug :-) Go to your kdemultimedia-3.0.4 workdir /kmidi/config, and look around (files and makefiles) - try to find out why it's not installed. It's hard to do something about it without reproducing it. The Makefile.* there certainly look as though they install it unconditionally. Maybe someone else can reproduce this?
Maybe it has something to do with the kde_sandbox_patch on ${S}/kmidi/config. I've installed kde with -b.
kde_sandbox_patch() only deals with changing file permissions once they're installed. I can't see why -b (build .tbz2s, right?) would be related? Can you give me your Makefile.* files from that dir?
That is Makefile* - i.e. 'Makefile' too.
Are you still there? Could you please supply the requested information? Otherwise I can't try to fix the bug. Also you could try the newly released kde 3.1, if it works there we can forget about this.
The author mailed me saying this is resolved, at least in kde 3.1.
