Description Iain Buchanan 2005-06-15 21:09:53 UTC
vfolders in evolution 2.2.1.1 don't ever update their unread count, until I
click on the original imap folder, and then back on the vfolder.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Create an imap account, and a vfolder that displays all messages younger than 3
days, called recent:

Work
 Inbox
vFolders
 recent

pre condition:
- imap Inbox shows no new messages
- vfolder shows no new messages

Select the vfolder, wait for new mail.
Actual Results:
- new mail arrives, imap unread count goes up to (lets say) 3, but vfolder stays
the same _no_matter_how_long_I_wait_:

Work
 Inbox (3)
vFolders
 recent

Expected Results:
- new mail arrives, imap unread count goes up to (lets say) 3, vfolder unread
count follows:

Work
 Inbox (3)
vFolders
 recent (3)

In reality, I have many folders (and sub folders) in my imap account, and 2
vfolders. To get the vfolder to update, I have to click in the folder
containing the new message, and then back in the vfolder to see it.

I'm happy that vfolder's shouldn't necessarily all update as soon as new mail
arrives, but I've waited for hours (went and had lunch + a meeting or two) while
there is new mail in my imap inbox, but the vfolder unread count stays at 0,
until I click on the imap folder containing the mail. (It used to work as I
expected in evo ~2.0.4)

current version:

$ evolution --version
Gnome evolution-2.2 2.2.1.1

previous working version:

$ genlop evolution
 * net-mail/evolution
[snip]
     Fri Mar  4 10:53:57 2005 >>> mail-client/evolution-2.0.4
     Tue May  3 15:00:41 2005 >>> mail-client/evolution-2.2.1.1

Server type (in account settings): IMAP4rev1

Reopen if this persists with the newest stable (2.4.2), thanks.
Comment 2 Iain Buchanan 2006-01-24 16:55:27 UTC
Problem seems to be gone in evo 2.4.2.1, thanks.
