I listen to my music through an LAMP application called Netjuke which supports streaming. When listening to a playlist with only streamed songs, XMMS can't go to the next song. It finishes the current song and tries to load the next one but gets stuck at the "pre-buffering 0%" stage. If I wait about 60 seconds, it seems to wake up and continues playing. If I tell it explicitly to go to the next song through the GUI interface, it does so with no problems. Using Windows + Winamp, I do not have this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Find a playlist with only http:// entries and play it using XMMS. Assuming this is a problem with Netjuke/Apache, and not XMMS streaming in general, I can give access to my Netjuke server for testing (last resort of course). net-www/apache 2.0.54-r7 dev-php/mod_php 4.3.11 media-sound/xmms 1.2.10-r15 Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.5-20050130, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, May 1 2005, 12:39:57)] distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: [Not Present] sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.7.9-r1, 1.9.5, 1.6.3, 1.4_p6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.16 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig buildpkg ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ http://linuv.uv.es/mirror/gentoo/" LINGUAS="fr" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X alsa apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl dvd dvdr emboss encode esd fam flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gpm gtk2 imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda pdflib perl php pic png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl slang spell sqlite ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb xine xml2 xmms xv zlib linguas_fr userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
still have the same problem ? Did you tried with another versions ?
Yes, I've tried both versions that are in portage (1.2.10-r14 & r15) as well as previous versions, when they were available. Same problem with all of them.
can you show me what plugins are you using ?
I had a similar problem and fixed it by disabling the MAD plugin in the prefrences.
xmms and all plugins are now package.masked and will be removed from the tree in one month. WONTFIX.
