A number of devs IRC from toucan, and having the newer versions should allow locales and "weird" characters etc to work properly in irssi. As it is, UTF-8 is basically unusable.
I would prefer to wait a few more weeks to ensure nothing will break. I haven't had time to read up on any migration issues or look through bugs for any other issues. This isn't a desktop we're upgrading.
I know, I wouldn't file a bug for a desktop -- I'd just upgrade it myself. =) The main thing I'm aware of that isn't backwards-compatible is a change in the trap syntax, but that looks patched out in our bash with bash-3.0-posixtrap.patch. vapier would prolly know more.
afaict that patch does revert the strict POSIX behavior that original bash-3 has, but i didnt add the patch, agriffis did btw, while you're upgrading, please throw nano 1.3.7 on toucan too ;)
Sounds like its mostly painless, but we should probably wait a week or two still. I can probably do nano now if you'd like. Just let me know.
upgraded nano
bash upgraded already. readline emerging now.
Awesome, thanks!
