Description Attila Stehr 2005-06-14 07:42:33 UTC
I emerged xmms-themes but those do not show up in the theme browser.
Moreover can't find those using locate 'xmms | grep theme'!
(Yes, I did 'locate -u' just before this.)

So it seems not to be present although portage says it is.

I add a screenshot.
Maybe interesting - I have a problem with xine-ui but it's the oter way around.
*sigh* See bug # 96077 .

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
(see above)
Actual Results:
no themes

Expected Results:
being able to choose themes in 'theme-chooser-window' of xmms

portage says it's emerged but there are no (new) themes

portage says it's emerged ---> [R]

but there are no (new) themes for xmms
('ultrafina' was there after emerge xmms or added by hand - dunno which)

Sorry _again_ about the big screenie but 'emerge gimp' fails on my system...

Please, paste the output of 'equery files xmms-themes' (emerge
app-portage/gentoolkit if don

Please, paste the output of 'equery files xmms-themes' (emerge
app-portage/gentoolkit if don´t have equery).

magic atti # equery files xmms-themes

So it's there and it's "Skins" not "themes" - but why doesn't xmms find those -
is it possible to add those directory to the skin browser automatically on
'emerge xmms-themes'?
Comment 5 Attila Stehr 2005-06-14 10:51:17 UTC
I added those dirs manually but the themes are still not there.
(Moreover the two installe are missing now so I will reemerge xmms *grmpf)
Comment 6 Attila Stehr 2005-06-14 10:56:22 UTC
reemerging didn't 'add' more skins/themes
however xmms works
Comment 7 Luis Medinas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-30 10:50:37 UTC
This is strange. When you emerge xmms-themes, the Skins will be available in
/usr/share/xmms/Skins. So you have to run xmms and change the Skin dir because
by default the available Skin dir is ~/.xmms/Skins.
Comment 8 Attila Stehr 2005-10-30 18:46:49 UTC
Well, this time xmms can see the other themes.

Now I wonder why /usr/share/xmms/Skins is not added AUTOMATICALLY after the
emerge of xmms-themes to the "skin-directories" of xmms.
Comment 9 Luis Medinas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-30 18:51:12 UTC
I don't like the idea because xmms would need a patch for it. And i can't force
users to use xmms-themes. The best way it's the current way. Let the users
decide what to use.
Comment 10 Attila Stehr 2005-10-30 20:42:08 UTC
Well, it's not about forcing someone to use different skins. But in the
"skin-manager" you can tell xmms different directorys as location for skins (so
there is a list of directories). So the users choice should not change, but the
directory with the additional skings sould be in / ADDED to the list.
Imo there is a reason why users emerge xmms-themes so what's wrong about that ^^?

Best regards
~ Attila
