I'm trying various different Bible study packages using the SWORD Project, of which biblestudy is one. However, when starting it up, the window appears and then disappears straight away. The console output is as follows: ===== ciaran@downstairs ~/oldhome/iso $ biblestudy created default StringMgr (biblestudy:23137): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GtkScrolledWindow' to `GtkWindow' (biblestudy:23137): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_set_transient_for: assertion `parent == NULL || GTK_IS_WINDOW (parent)' failed Segmentation fault ===== app-text/biblestudy is currently masked ~x86, so I am using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run 'ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge biblestudy'. 2. Run biblestudy. Actual Results: The main window appears, then disappears almost instantly as the program crashes and the above errors are seen on the console. Expected Results: Run with no problem. Re-assign wrt Bug 45935.
I just re-tested biblestudy-1.0 again and it no longer crashes for me. I haven't consciously made any changes that would affect it, but obviously something has changed. Did you upgrade gtk at any point? What version are you now using of gtk?
Looks like at the time that biblestudy was crashing, I had a couple of SLOTted versions of gtk+ - x11-libs/gtk+-1.2.10-r11 and x11-libs/gtk+-2.6.7. In between then and the time that I posted that it was working, I had upgraded the gtk2 SLOTted version to x11-libs/gtk+-2.6.10. So I guess that could be the reason. I haven't upgraded either SLOT of gtk+ since then, and biblestudy is still okay. I'd offer to downgrade back to 2.6.7 to see if that was it, but it doesn't seem to be available in the Portage tree any more. I haven't had the problem since I last posted it was working, but then I haven't used it a lot since then either. But it still seems okay, at least.
Closing this.
