`emerge -u -p world` tells me that there is a new db out: sys-libs/db-4.1.24
`emerge -u db` fails during configure:
(...)
checking for jar... no
configure: error: no acceptable jar program found in $PATH

this was an accidental upgrade.

sorry aboutthat.  it's been fixed in portage already.
