Description Peter Humphrey 2005-06-12 07:35:22 UTC
This is what I get when I try to get a news feed. I've only just installed
rawdog; I set it up as instructed in /usr/share/doc/rawdog-1.12/README.gz, and
I've tried changing the timeout value from 30s to 2m with no effect. Proxy
values are set in the environment, and I can open the url in firefox with no
difficulty. I assume that rss feeds use http, no? What else should I try?

prh@wstn ~ $ rawdog -v -f

I see mention of version 2.4 in another bug, but AFAICS 1.12 is the only
available version.

Should have attached ~/.rawdog/config. Here it is, minus comments and blank lines:

Comment 2 Lukasz Strzygowski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-25 16:29:26 UTC
Peter, that's what I get on my system:
Starting update
Will update 1 feeds
Updating feed 1 of 1:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss091.xml
Feed: http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss091.xml
HTTP Status: 301
New URL: http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml
The feed has moved permanently to a new URL.
You should update its entry in your config file.

It seems you just need to update url of the feed in your config. With updated
url it works fine for me. Also, you can try with rawdog-2.4, which I've just
commited to portage.
Comment 3 Peter Humphrey 2005-07-26 01:38:20 UTC
I don't know what I've done differently this time (I've completely rebuilt this
Gentoo box) but I can't reproduce the problem now. Rawdog works with both the
URLs you quote.

Looks like this bug can be closed. Thanks for your help.
