Description Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2002-10-23 18:56:09 UTC
the previous kernels seems to start counting BAT from 1, the acpi-sources seems
that is counting from 0 and there are other changes in the naming conventions,
not sure if that is on purpose or not.
Comment 1 Brandon Low (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-24 00:20:56 UTC
so? They use a totally different ACPI core.
Comment 2 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2002-10-24 14:50:39 UTC
so almost every battery docklet/indicator is brocken...

now the solution is patch almost every app that uses acpi

and put a warning at the end of the acpi-sources install...

lets think more on this
Comment 4 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2002-11-02 15:40:56 UTC
The new ACPI uses a different /proc-scheme, but most apps already have fixes for
that.
acpid works fine with new acpi, the gnome-battery-applet with gnome2 also does.
I think this is invalid.
As the new acpi will become part of the kernel in the future, you should report
bugs about the apps not working with the acpi-kernel.
