To see a threaded index of messages in pine, the fancy thread interface is available as explained at: http://www.math.washington.edu/~chappa/pine/info/fancy.html This way you can see a threaded view of emails. The patch against pine 4.44 is available at: http://www.math.washington.edu/~chappa/pine/patches/pine4.44/fancy.patch.gz This can easily be released as a masked pine-4.44-r5. The patch can be applied by just adding a single line to the ebuild patch -d ${S} -p1 < ${FILESDIR}/pine-4.44-fancy.patch || die

I have added pine-4.44-r5 to portage with the threaded index patch and also some compile warning fixes when ldap is enabled. It is currently marked unstable. Please test and let me know how things work for you.

Very good. I have one more bug for pine which is adding maildir support. I will leave -r5 marked unstable until I get the maildir support added in. Thanks for pointing the patch out!
