Currently, we have sys-apps/edid-decode in tree. But according to upstream, standalone-release has been removed [1].

What do you think? Should it be added as util in media-libs/libv4l? [2] Or switch with sys-apps/edid-decode so same source and try to build stand-alone?

I don't think the merge made sense, but let's not fight it. There hasn't been a libv4l release with this yet, so let's hold off for now. We'll get this for free with the next libv4l bump anyway because it's apparently built with USE=utils.
