what version of linux-headers do you have ?
(In reply to comment #1) > what version of linux-headers do you have ? linux-headers-2.6.8.1-r2
the only one topic I found the subject was mentioned is: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/hal/2005-January/001849.html also the bug is strange to me 'cause it happens on my home desktop, where Gentoo was installed last year, but not on my new work box with fresh Gentoo (two weeks ago) where the same version of linux-headers is installed
check if BLKGETSIZE64 is defined in /usr/include/linux/fs.h (i think it is) there seems to be something else broken on your sys : configure:22775: checking for BLKGETSIZE64 configure:22802: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -c -O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame- pointer -Wall -Wchar-subscripts -Wmissing-declarations -Wnested-externs - Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align -Wsign-compare conftest.c >&5 conftest.c: In function `main': conftest.c:46: warning: `main' is normally a non-static function conftest.c: In function `main': conftest.c:49: warning: implicit declaration of function `ioctl' conftest.c:49: error: `u64' undeclared (first use in this function) conftest.c:49: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once conftest.c:49: error: for each function it appears in.)
re-emerge linux-headers. This was fixed a while ago (becaues of amd64) without a revbump. It was felt at the time that this was an amd64-only bug, so no revbumb was needed.
(In reply to comment #5) thanks, guys reemerging linux-headers did the trick.
