c/p from the webpage: Beginning with the v2.1Beta release of the starter kit, Sun is transitioning to the use of the Apache License, Version 2.0 for this technology. Downloads of the starter kit licensed under Apache v2.0 are available from Jini.org. The Jini Technology Starter Kit (starter kit) contains contributed implementations from Sun Microsystems of Jini technology infrastructure services, supporting helper classes, and other services including JavaSpaces(TM) technology. The v2.1Beta release builds on prior starter kit releases with an implementation of the newly proposed JavaSpace05 Jini Community standard, which supports many-to-many communications and batch operations using a JavaSpaces service. Among other feature enhancements introduced in this release, some aim to ease or simplify common Jini technology system deployment practices, and include an environment checker and other tools, configuration file additions, and support for multiple IP addresses and URL-based deployments.
Created attachment 71931 [details] Proposal for Jini 2.1 ebuild This is an ebuild for Jini 2.1. Basically, it installs Jini in /opt/sun-jini-bin-2.1 including compiled jars, source, examples and documentation. Missing: Jini requires to install jsk-policy.jar into the JVM's lib/ext directory. As this directory gets removed with a JVM update, no simple solution is obvious. Making a manual ln -s works, however.
The package could do its own compiling and not install the precompiled bins. Also, the src_uri changed to be: SRC_URI="https://starterkit.dev.java.net/downloads/${PN}/${PV}/InstData/Zip/${PN}${MY_PV}.zip" But I'm not java-pkg guru enough to change the building myself.
Hi there Are you still interested in adding this software to Portage? Please let us know. Thanks.
