I have just read The KDE Configuration HOWTO and I noticed something in the section that talks about how to get auto-mount working. There it says that you should add dbus, hal and ivman to the default runlevel. I think it would be better to say hald instead of hal as this is the actual name of HAL startup script and someone cold be surprised to see an error when he started to run rc-update add hal default Maybe someone can even miss the error compleetely and could later wonder why this isn't working. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Actual Results: (Repeat this for hal and ivman as well) # rc-update add dbus default Expected Results: (Repeat this for hald and ivman as well) # rc-update add dbus default
fixed... thanks for the info
