It seems to be fixed in 1.3.25 (but it is currently marked as unstable), see       
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2896035. 
I confirm that this is fixed in media-gfx/pixie-1.4.1-r1. 
 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. rndr <some rib file>    
2. xv <produced image file>    
 
Actual Results:  
Colors are wrong (in my case everything is gray). 
  

Expected Results:  
The image should be colored. 

It seems to affect certain graphics cards only.

thanks.  1.4.1-r1 is stable now for sparc and x86.
