I'm not exactly sure if the change came with mc-4.8.23 or mc-4.8.23-r1, but the regex syntax in mc.ext changed. It has this by default: [msxls-by-shell] Regex=\\.(xl[sw]|xlsx)$ RegexIgnoreCase=true I see it starts with \\. not \. and they use RegexIgnoreCase to simplify the expression.
@Viorel Munteanu thanks, the second \ fixed it, and just to be sure I changed RegexIgnoreCase to true everywhere. That only leaves the question how these wrong entries got into my mc.ext in the first place? I didn't change anything myself there.
