I can't get Rosegarden (4.1.0-r1) to start up on my system. On startup, 2 identical error boxes appear (The Rosegarden sequencer could not be started, so sound and recording will be unavailable for this session). Rosegarden then starts up as normal (except it won't play anything). I checked in the config dialog to see if I needed to set up the sequencer. It said there was none, and when I clicked on the 'Detailed Status' button, RG crashed with a SIGABRT. I'm using a Soundblaster 5.1 Live! Digital, with ALSA snd_emu10k1 (ver. 1.0.8 with OSS support). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load Rosegarden 2. Wait for the error boxes 3. Go to the Config->Sequencer page and press 'Detailed Status' Actual Results: Rosegarden exited, and the KDE crash handler popped up with a SIGABRT Expected Results: Brought up the detailed sequencer details I tried with and without jackd running, and there was no difference, so I can't think of anything to put here
(In reply to comment #0) Dear Mr. Nolan, I was able to reproduce the problem in a system using KDE 3.41 and the same conditions described in your report. There is a temporary workaround discussed in: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-324615-highlight-rosegarden4+1+0.html namely, USE="-arts" emerge -av rosegarden
Unfortunately we don't have enough maintainers, so this bug had to sit a while. Please test v.4.1.2.3 and file bugs as you encounter them.
