I'm posting this issue so you can notice that future versions of SourceGit will support disabling the update notification feature, see:
https://github.com/sourcegit-scm/sourcegit/issues/819

I guess you could also make a new patch according to the code commited in :
https://github.com/sourcegit-scm/sourcegit/commit/c768b1750e715091504fe9d866013f6a6d44ac22
