Hello!

I can handle this package (and some others as well).

Sorry, this is not possible. Only official Gentoo devs have access to CVS. If
you do not have access to Gentoo cvs, you can't really maintain an ebuild. If
you are interested in becoming a developer, you need to find someone who will
mentor you.

... or join us in #gentoo-sunrise now and maintain it yourself :)

I cannot find this anywhere online any more, so I will close this bug within the next 14 days unless a source becomes available.

Andrew, if you would like to contribute to the Gentoo project now or in the future, please take a look at https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Proxy_Maintainers and feel free to join us in IRC for a chat.
Comment 8 Andrew Kirilenko 2016-01-29 16:30:17 UTC
Michael, seriously? Will I need to find some child^Wrespected gentoo maintainer to mentor me? ;)
Comment 9 Michael 'veremitz' Everitt 2016-01-29 16:48:12 UTC
The path to Gentoo developer does require mentorship, but if you wish to proxy .. as long as your ebuilds meet the QA criteria, these can be merged to tree on your behalf (eg. via a git Pull-request) by the proxy-maintenance project.

If you feel that the Gentoo project's policies and procedures don't meet with your ideals, then you may wish to review your offer of involvement.

When you'll grow up, you might (or might not) be able to understand concept of sarcasm. I really doubt I needed some self-important child to mentor me 11 years back, and I am absolutely sure I don't need one now.

Though this isn't relevant at all, as I'm not using gentoo for past 8 years or so, linux for 2 years (unless it's completely unavoidable) and trying not to touch opensource when and while I can.

Oh you mean when he reaches his 40s? I really doubt any self respecting gentoo developer would want to mentor you considering the advanced level of disdain and contempt that you express in the most contemptuous of all styles of delivery; sarcasm, the lowest form of (t)wit.
But hey this is a non issue. You don't even use gentoo for many years, except for gentoo bugzilla it seems. So why was it again you are telling us?

Any further expression of sardonic put down towards veremit will not only not be tolerated, but see your name and email address put to the authoritative body for consideration for banning in this distribution for a time period deemed to suite.
(It seems you caught me on a bad day)
We look forward to your silence and the eventual closing of this ancient bug.

>Oh you mean when he reaches his 40s

If he is grown up and still wasting his time on something as useless as source based distro... well... I can't help here. Maybe he should see some specialist.

Oh no, how I'll be able to live my life after this. No kid to mentor me, sigh.

>But hey this is a non issue. You don't even use gentoo for many years, except for gentoo bugzilla it seems. So why was it again you are telling us?

Well, if some one is smart enough to send me message on bug I submitted 11 years ago...

No kid mentor AND account banned. Noooooooooo.

And yes, you caught me on bad day as well. See ya.
