checking for avifile.h... yes
checking how to determine AVIFILE_LIBS... pkg-config

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I have transcode-0.6.11 presently installed/working, however many apps require

For the original reporter: please rebuild avifile as it has directfb support
enabled but the library isn't there anymore.

For eipi on the comment, please remove LDFLAGS, remove -fPIC from CFLAGS and
try again.

That solves my problem, thanks!

I removed -fPIC from CFLAGS, but I kept LDFLAGS, it works after the reemerge
of avifile.

This should be fixed now, please reopen if it's still an issue.
