sys-apps/rlocate is a drop in replacement for slocate (but updates in real time), and works perfectly well with kio-locate. It would be nice if the ebuild reflected this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
SpanKY, rlocate metadata is incomplete (:) and the ebuild is blocking slocate, but the block the other way around in missing. How about a virtual?
there is no metadata because if someone else wishes to maintain it they're free to i think a virtual/locate is inevitable ... but can someone do a check and see how many things actually depend on a locate package ? locate is not in system so none of the profiles will contain it ...
> there is no metadata because if someone else wishes to maintain it they're free to Well, you're violating our ebuild policy: "Every package must be accompanied by a metadata.xml file which lists - amongst other information - what herd (and/or individual maintainers) are in charge of the package." If you add a package to portage, please maintain it. We have far too much bad or even unmaintaned packages in the repository.
ebuilds with an explicit dependence on slocate: app-vim/locateopen kde-misc/kio-locate
then for now i say put || ( slocate rlocate ) into the ebuilds
Please give 0.4.3 a try.
Yup, that fixes it, but you need to add a scons dependency.
