It would be nice if glsa-check would print out nothing but the requested relevant information. This would follow an old unix tradition and would it make easier to pipe the output to other scripts (e.g. glsa-check -t | xargs glsa-check -l). Patch attached to add --quiet option. An other way would be to be quiet by default and only print informational stuff in verbode mode. This also applies to other tools as emerge itself (which will incorporate glsa-check in the future, right?).
Created attachment 60251 [details, diff] Add --quiet option
My vote goes for quiet as default and verbose on switch. The piping feature is really necessary and ripping the output by hand is anoying. :-(
Don't get me wrong. I also vote for the quiet by default option. I just didn't want to change the interface. Eye candy could just be printed to stderr.
changed output so most information is now sent to stderr.
Fix is in gentoolkit-0.2.1
