I've had this issue for several months where, when I have a gamepad connected and Steam open, if I do something like: - (on a PS4/DS4 gamepad) Use the touchpad after launching a Steam game - Hold a gamepad "guide" (logo) button and move the right thumbstick when Steam is open - Open the "wrong" game (some Steam games such as Shadows of Doubt triggers it automatically) - Use Steam Input to emulate keyboard/mouse controls causes the Plasma 6 RDP window to appear asking me to "share" or "cancel" an input device request, but is missing a supposed "remember" checkbox for some reason. Which, on the surface just sounds annoying that someone would have to do per request because of it's absence, right? But it gets worse: I can't even permit it on a per request basis either. Clicking on "share" just makes the entire desktop freeze for several seconds, then the window disappears and reattempting the to do any of the things I mentioned just loops back into this issue. At first, I thought it might've just been because I didn't have RDP globally set or at least just set for plasma-meta, because dev-libs/libei is being pulled in by other packages (like gamescope), so I added RDP to my USE flags and updated... for both issues to still be present afterwards. The only idea I might have left of this is that it requires KWallet(?), which I can't imagine is the case because wouldn't it just request the secrets provider? (For context, I have a script that kills the KWallet process on startup otherwise it interferes with the equivalent functionality from KeePassXC) And to be clear, I copied over all of the OpenRC Plasma profile flags from the equivalent GCC profile (the only exception is really "test-rust"), so I don't see a reason why the window shouldn't be behaving as expected when everything else on the Plasma desktop does (with -DLIBCXX_TYPEINFO_COMPARISON_IMPLEMENTATION=2 set for compatibility). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (Simplest reproduction) 1. Open Steam 2. Connect a gamepad 3. Hold down the gamepad's logo/icon/guide button and move its right thumbstick Actual Results: Plasma 6's RDP window appears, but it behaves defunct for its intended purpose. Expected Results: Plasma 6's RDP window should include the "remember" choice checkbox and honor the "share" choice without also momentarily visually freezing the desktop. For the record, Plasma 6.2.4 is our current version so it would make sense to re-test with that. I had a hard time following what this was about and thankfully someone in #gentoo-kde helped out. It didn't help that half the keywords I was looking for were not correct. I'm afraid linking you with the original bug that changed that dialog is all I can do for you. Raise your bug upstream.
To clarify, no one helped on the IRC. Additionally, the reason why I raised the issue here rather than upstream is because I didn't want it swept under the rug simply because I'm on Gentoo and other distros might not have the problem. (I wouldn't know, considering not even some other Gentoo users I've spoken to have the issue.) I even opened a forum post over it, also in vain. Writing an report here, considering these, was the next logical thing to do that I could think of. Also... Not sure how you seem confused by my explanation of the issue. I detailed reproduction steps, explained what triggers it, provided a screenshot, and chose my words carefully. I'd rather help someone understand the problem and get somewhere rather than the issue continuing to be ignored, to be honest.

You're not being ignored, it's just not clear at all how RDP is related to the bug. I did give some hints before when you (or someone else) asked about a similar issue a few months ago. But ultimately, nobody else has hit it, it doesn't appear Gentoo specific (no other Gentoo reports, no idea what could cause it), so it makes sense to ask you to take it upstream so they can debug it with you there.
As for whether the report was clear: it not being clear is not necessarily your fault, but it did read in kind of a narrative way which is IMO fine for notes afterwards but shouldn't be mixed in with the description of the problem. It also wasn't clear (still isn't to me) whether the issue is "no 'remember' checkbox", or something else (like "share" freezing/not working at all).
(In reply to Neko-san from comment #3) > To clarify, no one helped on the IRC. asturm meant someone helped *him* to figure out what your report meant. But I will note that both Chewi and I had tried to help too when you were there: [Tuesday 15 October 2024] [02:55:55 BST] <sam_> https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480235 perhaps? I mean, the typeinfo issue to begin with was unusual. If you're really truly stuck, it makes sense to try rule that part out.
1) Making that custom profile partially helped in that the window no longer seems to crash and momentarily (visually) hang the screen when using it as intended [LLVM (split-user)+hardened+plasma] 2) The checkbox is still missing, though; and, for clarification, when you say "rule that out" do you mean use GCC? How would I even know which Plasma package to do that for to test?
